Rajasthan Famous Personalities (Part 2)
In the first section of this series, we knew about some of the renowned movie producers who were from Rajasthan. Now we will talk about some of the music composers who are from Rajasthan, and they are known for their work in the whole world.

Famous music composers from Rajasthan

Rajasthan is known for its music, its folk music is liked all over the world. Artists from Rajasthan travels all over the globe to present their art. Rajasthan’s role in film music can not be overlooked. Rajasthan has given some of the most talented music directors in our Indian film Industry. We will talk about some of them.

Ghulam Mohammed

Ghulam Mohammed was born in Bikaner, Rajasthan. He was born into the family of the musicians, His father Nabi Baksh was a famous Tabla player. In  1924 he came to Mumbai and struggled there. In 1932 after 8 years of struggle he got his first work as the Tabla Player in Saroj Movietone's Productions' "Raja Bharthari".
In Music Composition his journey started as assistant music director of famous music director Naushad in Kardar Productions and also worked as an assistant to the Anil Biswas. He got National Film Award for his music in film Mirza Ghalib. His score in film Pakeezah is still considered as one of the all-time great music of Indian Cinema. He not only given music to the Hindi movies but also provided music to some regional movies.
He died on 17 March 1968, before his biggest hit Pakeezah was released. Some of the movies done by him are Banke Sipahi, Mere Khwab, Grihasti, Gujara, Mirza Ghalib, Pakeezah, etc.

Khemchand Prakash

Khemchand Prakash was another music composer who belonged to Rajasthan. He was born in Sujangarh in Churu district in Rajasthan. He was born on 12 December 1907. He started giving music in films from very early days of Bollywood cinema. Lata Mangeshkar had a fruitful association with him in her early days. In his teen years, he joined Bikaner Royal Court as a singer and later moved to Nepal royal court. He was assistant to Music composer Timir Baran in his film Devdas in the year 1935.
He debuted as a music director with movies named ‘Diwali’,’Holi’, ‘Pardeshi’, ‘Fariyad’, etc. He gave a first major break to Kishor Kumar in the year 1948 in the film named ‘Ziddi’. Tansen was the biggest hit he ever produced. The song ‘jagmag jagmag diya jalao’ was the biggest hit of that time. He made Lata Mangeshkar famous first time at that point. His composed music ‘aayega aane wala’ was the song which Lata sang which made her famous.
He died at the very young age of 42 in the year 1950. He had died 2 months before his movie Mahal released.

Toshi Sabri

If we talk in modern time of music composers, Rajasthan has not left behind. Toshi Sabri has given music to many films. Toshi Sabri came to light when he participated in a reality show Star Voice of India. He participated in other reality shows like Ustaado ke Ustaad and Jo Jeeta Wo Super Star. He belongs to Jaipur, Rajasthan. He has given music to many films like Raaz, Jail, Pyar Ka Punchnama 2, Humpty Sharma ki Dulhaniyan, Ghost, 1920, etc.
